The Roles and Responsibilities for Designers in Providing Building Envelope Solutions to Minimize Risk

Taymaz Rastin is a lawyer at Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP in Vancouver, BC, with a practice concentrated in commercial, construction, and regulatory dispute resolution. He also regularly advises Engineers and Geoscientists BC on its professional practice guidelines. Taymaz has represented clients in all levels of court in British Columbia and before various administrative tribunals. He has been retained by businesses, individuals, and public bodies in disputes involving contracts, real estate, construction, professional standards, economic torts, corporate governance, partnerships, and civil fraud.
This presentation will explore the role and responsibilities of the various types of consultants in a restoration project as well as new construction and what each could do to minimize his/her risk and potential liability.
Attendees will:
- Understand the role architects play in designing building envelope enclosures.
- Understand the role the suppliers/manufacturers play in the building envelope enclosures.
- Understand the role building envelope engineers play in the design of building envelope enclosures.
- How each key role can mitigate their potential risk.
