In this presentation/workshop, we will develop an introductory understanding of psychrometrics using the psychrometric chart, a principle tool in building science and other related industries.

Presented By: 

Christopher Black, B.A. Sc, M.A.Sc., C.P.H.D., P.Eng.   Christopher is a Senior Building Science Consultant and the Technical Director at LDR.  He has been involved in the building science industry for over 18 years.  He has earned a Master of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in building science engineering, from the University of Waterloo.  Since then, he has worked for 15 years in British Columbia, based in the Lower Mainland.  He is a member of the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), a Certified Passive House Designer (CPHD), instructed the Building Science 2 (BLDG4100) class at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), and is currently instructing Building Envelope Performance (BLDC3050) and Basic Project Management Skills (BLDT2021).

Christopher's work experience has included a wide range of projects, including managing or contributing to new construction projects, rehabilitation projects for both targeted and complete rehabilitation, warranty reviews, depreciation reports, warranty and insurance claims, building enclosure condition assessments, forensic investigation, research, and both field and laboratory testing.  Through this he has diverse experience with various building enclosure elements such as roofing (e.g. SBS torch applied roofing and hot-applied roofing membrane), waterproofing (e.g. bentonite sheets and self-adhered membranes), cladding systems (e.g. stucco, metal, EIFS, cement board, cedar siding, stone and brick cladding), window systems (unitized curtain wall, stick-built curtain wall, window wall, and structural glazing), and skylight systems.
