Quality Architectural Woodwork for Architects - Drawing and Specification Requirements

You are invited to join us for an informative session on quality architectural woodwork, taking place on THURSDAY, January 16th, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Exchange Hotel in Vancouver.
Topic: Quality Architectural Woodwork for Architects - Drawing and Specification Requirements
Presented by: Glenda Harskamp, AWMAC with George McCutcheon, AWMAC GIS Certified Inspector
This session will provide an overview of quality standards for architectural woodwork as defined by the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards (NAAWS) manual and how to effectively apply these standards in your drawings and specifications.
The session will touch on items that Architects will want to include in their specifications and note on their drawings including the changed plastic laminate reference standard, temperature and humidity requirements, anchorage to walls, blocking in walls, limitations to sizes of door and cabinets, and construction tolerances covered by NAAWS.
Session Highlights:
· Discussion of grades and quality related to custom one-off manufacturing and achieving optimal results in your architectural woodwork designs.
· Exploration of checks and balances provided by specifying AWMAC quality standards.
· Analysis of specification wording ensuring clarity and avoiding confusion, along with verifying the accuracy and completeness of your specifications.
· Guidance on verifying that finished woodwork installation meets specification requirements.
· Basic information for inclusion in drawings to ensure a level playing field for bidders.
· Discussion on the relationship between drawings, specifications, and the NAAWS manual, including what to depict in drawings and what to delegate to the woodwork manufacturer.
